To our own surprise we just realized that our posts on so far have been about clubs, coffee, bars and museums. Unacceptable of course when considering the infinite number of great (and affordable) restaurants in Warsaw and the time we seem to be spending in them! So, let’s start with:

Bibenda - logoBibenda, which translates encouragingly as “let’s drink”, is a smart choice if you are looking for a nice and cosy restaurant with good food, outstanding service, that doubles as a fun bar serving Polish craft beers, good wines and cocktails. Bibenda describes itself online as “…a celebration of food, drinks, and togetherness, with meals that ease cravings, tempt tastes, and encourage sharing, family-style…” – and we have to agree.

We have been to this Warsaw favorite a few times now with different groups of people and it has never let us down. The great thing about Bibenda is the atmosphere, not too big, not too small, with a full house on almost every night of the week. Making reservations is recommended, although they stopped taking bookings for the front area – which is by far the best place to sit.

The food is largely based a typical Polish cuisine, with some more refined tastes. The menu does not look overly complex, but you can be assured there will be something to like for everyone. With prices for starters around 15 PLN (3,5 EUR) and 20 to 40 PLN (5-10 EUR) for the main courses, in combination with the great food quality, Bibenda offers incredible value.

A typical Polish starter on the current menu is the grillowana biała kiełbasa (grilled sausage), and for main we can recommend the chrupiąca łopatka wieprzowa (crispy porc shoulder) and the udo z kaczki z grejpfrutem (delicious duck leg with grapefruit). Don’t miss out on desert either, they have great ciastka (cakes).

Another good thing about Bibenda is that after a great meal, on the one hand, it is very tempting to stick around and have another beer or wine at the bar, but on the other hand, its location allows also for an easy stroll to one of the many great bars in the area such as Kita Koguta, Kufle i Kapsle or Cida na Kiju, where you can continue your night out in Warsaw. During summertime they also have a terrace out front. Tip: have a look at our hotspots map to find all our recommended places in Warsaw.
