Kafka is one of our favourite spots in Warsaw! We go there for great coffees, to have brunch, lunch or do some afternoon chilling, this place has it all.
When the weather is warm and sunny, you can sit at the small terrace along the window facing south-west. A great place to work on your tan and with the provided blankets, suitable any time of year. The relaxed and chilled atmosphere is extended to the field in front of the café. When the weather allows for it you can enjoy your refreshing Fritz-kola lemonade or freshly squeezed juice in the deck chairs or on one of the huge cushions laid out on the grass. Find your spot in the tangle of people enjoying the warm sun or sometimes welcoming shade. If you want to buy one of these relaxing chairs to put on your own balcony, like we did, search for ‘leżak’ at allegro.pl.
When the weather gets too cold, you can sit inside the cosy café. Being located between the Warsaw University and the University Library, and with a name referring to the author Franz Kafka, it may not be a surprise that the interior is all about books. You can relax in large fluffy armchairs and cosy couches, or you can sit on one of the chairs by the tables next to a huge bookshelf against the wall.
During weekdays the atmosphere is relaxed and quiet, but during the weekend it can get quite busy. Kafka is a great place to meet with friends for a drink or lunch, but you also see people working on their laptop while drinking one of the great coffees.
Order your food and drinks at the bar where you are tempted to one of the deliciously looking cakes that are on display. The coffees are great and served with raisins, a tasty and original variation. For lunch, all choices on the menu are very tasty. Our favourites are caffe latte, naleśniki z grillowanym kurczakiem (a salty pancake with grilled chicken, folded pizza calzone style), any cake, pasta or homemade soup.
